MOR-IBTS International Fellowship Program

The RUSH-IBTS International Fellowship Program is intended to benefit professionals at early stages of their careers with opportunities to conduct research and learn from mentors and leaders within the field. The fellowship is supported by the Lemann Foundation and directed by Leo Metsavath and Jorge Chahla, MD, PhD. The overall goal of the program is to create a collaborative educational and research experience including a broad range of projects investigating  biomechanics, 3D motion analysis, and a variety of other available technology aimed at improving functional diagnosis and treatment decisions, optimizing rehabilitation, and identifying risks factors of injuries in physical activities and general orthopedic disorders. Additionally, the goal is for visiting fellows understand their research and be able to apply their findings to a variety of sports medicine issues to develop more accurate algorithms for diagnostics, improve treatment decision making, and optimize rehabilitation. The fellowship also provides ample opportunities for visiting surgeons to both improve upon existing skills while developing new technical abilities most relevant to each fellow (clinical, surgical, biomechanics, or rehabilitation). The program also intends to foster international collaboration, in additional to cultivating  mentorship experiences for international fellows to pursue a career in academic orthopedic sports medicine.

Finally, fellows are exposed to translational sports medicine research and will complete one independent project during their term. This program is a 1-year long program that will be structured according to the specific interests and career goals of the visitor (shoulder, elbow, knee and/or hip surgery, physiatry/rehabilitation, biomechanics)
